Teemu Määttänen: Red Chair

A quiet ode to absence.

Red Chair presents an empty chair surrounded by an empty square area. The absence of people is highlighted through the movement of shadows, lines, and shapes that dance around the empty chair creating a quiet ode to absence. 

Light sources, materials, and equipment:  
Min. 5000 ANSI-lumen projector, white square paper 2x2 m, chair.

Dimensions of the work, approximately (width-height-depth): 
Width 2 m, depth 2 m, height about 1 m. Projector installation min. height 4 m.

Electricity consumption:
Standard mains current (10A/16A).

Does the artwork use sound?
No sound.

Support and other structures:
The work needs support structures, hanging points, or similar.

Structures, hardware, or other equipment needed from the client: 
Min 5000 ANSI-lumen projector, projector rigging min. 4 m above the artpiece.

Minimum height of the space:
5,5 meters

Minimum square meters of the space:
50 square meters

Requirements for the space: darkness, temperature, colouring (light / dark / specific colour / other) etc.:
Darkness, even floor.

Building time and people required (estimate):
2 days.

Artist's presence:
Artist or their representative must be present during building.
