Valometsä (translation: Light Forest) by VALOA design stands situated in the center of a roundabout in Kankaanpää. The work depicts a pine forest, characteristic to its surrounding Satakunta landscape.
The fixed lighting installation consists of steel structures placed in the center of the roundabout and warmly spotlit. The main principles of the piece have been transparency and preventing drive-through. The structures made of Corten steel form a visually impressive whole while maintaining a visual connection to the different parts of the junction. A similar structure has been used in the pole lighting of street areas, combined with lamps equipped with street optics.
Location of the work:
Kankaanpää, junction between highway 23 and road 44.
Size:
30 meters in diameter.
Materials and equipment:
Corten steel and LED-lights
