Alexander Salvesen: Perception Calibrator I

A calibration for the eyes with pink and green.

Perception Calibrator is an relief type of work where two neon lights in different colours mix and blend into a variety of hues and shadows on a three-dimensional surface. The artwork is based on visual perception, the duality of our eyes and the visual process in the brain. The work is a part of a larger series inspired by lines, barcodes and perception called In Visibilis.

Which kind of light sources and what other materials and equipment are used?
Neonlight, wood, acrylic and polycarbonate on wood bord.

60 x 50 cm

Electricity consumption:
Standard mains current (10A/16A).

Does the artwork use sound?
No sound.

The work needs support structures, hanging points, or similar.

Nail on the wall, or rigging point above (eg ceiling).

Minimum height of the space:
2 m

Minimum square meters of the space:
9 m2

Requirements for the space: darkness, temperature, colouring (light / dark / specific colour / other) etc.:
Dark, but not pitch dark.

Building time and people required (estimate):
2 hours.
