Marko Häkkinen: The Connection

A work about life's web; the visible and invisible ties people should respect.

Everything is connected. Countless connections sustain life in its various forms. We are part of a network of visible and invisible connections and depend on many things of which we understand only a little. If we have learned anything, it is how deeply we must respect what we do not yet know or understand.

Marko Häkkinen's works are driven by the desire to create comprehensive experiences and provoke conscious contemplation through the means of light and sound. The immersive soundscape creates possibilities for unprecedented implementations, and in Häkkinen's works, sound and light are equal partners. The works are multi-layered in content, easy to approach, and each work leads to an individual experience. The connection between nature and humans, as well as awareness, are recurring themes around which Häkkinen has created works that have deeply affected visitors.

The slowly evolving work, consisting of large light cubes, the lighting of trees and surroundings and soundscaping, symbolizes the emergence of connection, its fragility, and its life-sustaining power.
