Jussi Kamunen & Tanja Silvennoinen: Eksergia / Anergia

The theme of this interactive piece is different forms of energy, including the energy from the interaction with its spectators.

The themes of the artwork are interaction, playfulness, and different forms of energy.  At first glance, the work seems like a play of light and shadows with colours but upon closer examination, different forms of energy emerge from the content of the artwork.

Universe is fulfilled with different kinds of energy forms. Energy is renewable and changing all the time - but is there ultimately enough energy and is it evenly distributed? Energy regenerates and changes form, but does it disappear? In this art piece the huge canvas or venue glows with the different forms of energy attracting new energy from participants. The work changes and lives with the kinetic energy transmitted by the people who are a part of the art piece.  The play of people and the motion of light and colour together creates new sparkling energy.

Most especially, the artists want the work to be an accessible, playful, and inspiring experience for all. The artwork is an unpredictable sum of its elements. The interactivity comes from the motion of the people captured by the camera. The work consists of a projected video, lighting and sound. The basis of the video material is inspired by different forms of energy and generated live in real-time. Lighting and sound are linked to the generated video content.  The image formed through the camera is modified in such a way that the visitors can’t be identified from it and the video image is not recorded. The artwork is very Instagrammable in today's terms.
