Janne Parviainen: Anamorphic drawing installation

Site-specific light installation that combines fluorescent anamorphic drawing and figures made with EL-wire in order to create three dimensional spaces larger than the room's physical measurements.

The installation is site-specific and can be done to any theme or style required. By using fluorescent paints and markers in UV-light I draw anamorphic spaces that create an illusion of a larger space than the actual physical size of the room. I also continue some of the drawn anamorphic characters in three-dimensional space by using dummies covered with electroluminescent wire in order to create an even stronger feeling of three-dimensional space in the installation. The installation works as a diorama or it can be viewed from different perspectives (in the middle of a larger room) so that the viewer can see the anamorphic perspective altering, or so that there is always some anamorphic viewing point aligned no matter where the installation is viewed from. I like to express feelings and to tell stories through my artwork, and the installation can be planned based on the theme of the event/ exhibition.
