Anna Hyrkkänen: Connection

Work “Connection” I've created constantly changing wall sceneries through the interplay of static wall mounted objects and moving colored light, 2019

In the piece “Connection” I've used an effect where a change in color in the shadows projected by colored light and video creates different kinds of atmospheres and impressions of currents of time. The piece is composed of a video of a color change projected on a wall, partly motorized sculptural objects and objects which are mounted on the walls and roof, colored video projections and a gif animation in a display that shows images from the insides of a human body. In the video projection on the background a moving sphere and the background slowly change color encompassing the whole spectrum of visible light.

The round beam of light can be interpreted to be analogous with the lens of the eye. In can also be juxtaposed to a moving celestial body which rotates on its trajectory continuing its preordained movement. In the piece “Connection” I aim to unite elements from the inner and outer worlds through citation: to express the movements within the human mind and things outside of it. The piece represents how these categorically separated worlds never the less slide and interlace with each other and how the consciousness reflects its view of the world.
